Two-Week Pioneer Adventure Camp                                    
Rising 8th - 9th Grades

Pioneer Adventure campers may choose the two-week program offered weeks 4 and 5 of the summer.  Activities include regular camp programs and adventures off camp property.  Our most experienced staff members as well as adult volunteers will lead this group.  Activities for this camp include tubing at Deep Creek, overnights at Star Gap, hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail, and rafting the Nantahala River. 

The first week at camp will be spent participating in regular camp activities.  There will be two opportunities for campers to do laundry at the Old Fort Laundry Mat.  Campers should bring quarters and travel laundry detergent. 

The weekend will be spent in Cullowhee, NC at Cullowhee Presbyterian Church in preparation for the hike on the Appalachian Trail.  The group will spend Sunday through Tuesday morning on the trail, and Tuesday rafting the Nantahala River.  The remainder of camp will be spent back at Camp Grier resting and reflecting with a trip off site to visit Mt. Mitchell.
